Howdy! Happy summer everyone.

We survived another winter, and here we are with some green grass, iced coffees and beautiful days!

Don’t get me wrong, I think winter is great in its own way, but seeing everyone outside is what makes summer freakin’ fantastic!

This month’s theme at Athlete Lab is ‘Get Outside’. This can go in so many different directions, tying it into just about any topic, but with all of the activities going on this summer, I’d like to say “go try something new!” Pick something new to check out or throw into your routine that forces you out of your comfort zone a bit. Below are some ideas to think about:

-Join TAL’s undefeated kickball team. Reigning champs 2012-2019.

Just kidding…turns out Crossfit doesn’t transition too well into kickball. From what I’ve observed from the more competitive/successful teams, the secret recipe is a beer in one hand and a cigarette in the other. LOL.

-Frisbee golf! Wooh! There are so many courses around this area. Message me if you’d ever like to play and I have an extra set of discs you can use. It’s free, you’re outside getting some exercise, and it’s a blast!

-Stone Arch Bridge Festival June 14-16, 2019. Local food trucks, art, live music and plenty of snacks to make this a fun way to mix up the weekend.

-Twins Games! Did you know MLB teams play 162 games in the regular season? Basically pick any day and time you are free and you can likely catch the Twins. This year is a great year to pay attention to them! Leading the division and soon to be champs (ya heard it here first folks..)

Uptown Food Truck Festival (June 23rd) local snacks and it’s free! If a Poke bowl truck is there, give that a shot. Poke bowls are probably one of the best things ever invented.

The Mountain Meltdown at Afton Alps 06/29/19. This is a Crossfit event but I am sure it’ll come with some new movements and challenges you aren’t used to seeing in the gym. We have members from TAL signed up. Join the crew!

-Sign up for a triathalon, Spartan Race or a Tough Mudder. If it’s a tri, challenge yourself! Nothing like a mud bath every mile to mix up the motion of running for an extended period of time.

-Head over to Lake Bde Maka Ska and rent a paddle-board for the day. Float around on the water and tour the beautiful area!

I know this is just a small list of things happening just in June, but the point is, get out there! Soak up the sun, and try some new things. I hear nutrition coaching is a great thing to check out around the summertime too 😉

Okay okay.. I’m not in sales so give me a break!

However, we’ve had some great success and feedback with the nutrition program thus far.

If you do want some help on the nutrition side, set something up with Andee (Andee@theathletelab.com) or I (jesse@theathletelab.com).

Enjoy the Sunshine!
