It’s inevitable… you’re going to eat the food in your house sooner or later, and in the case of the busy, the stressed, or the hangry (that’s right, HANGRY), it’s probably sooner. Each bite you take is either going to be a chomp towards better health and fitness or towards poor health, plateaus in the gym, and frustration. Keeping nourishing foods stocked in your fridge is the first step to ensuring that you’re noshing on foods that will help you to attain wellness and achieving your fitness goals.
Our coaches live busy lives with some tough hours and exhausting days. Take a cue from what’s in their refrigerators to stock up your own:
- Eggs: This inexpensive, adaptable protein can be fried, boiled, baked, scrambled, or made into or put onto a salad and all within a short amount of time. Hard boiled eggs are very portable and make satisfying snacks. You can even get creative with your toppings, mixing in veggies, adding Frank’s Red Hot Sauce or your favorite salsa. Yum.
- Lean meat: Be sure to have some lean meat options thawing out so you can quickly grill or broil up dinner. Some great options include chicken, beef, and pork chops. You can have dinner served within a half hour with some lean meat, a grill or broiler, and a little creative seasoning. Throw a sweet potato in the microwave and some veggies on the grill and wallah! Recovery through good nutrition (and great protein!).
- Veggies: Fresh or frozen, all your coaches have vegetables on hand. Get some greens and other vibrant colors into your diet for rich nutrition, great skin, and healthy plumbing.
- Fruit: Just like your veggies, get lots of color and variety. Berries are especially low glycemic and are a good source of vitamins. Bananas are great for recovery following a tough workout.
- Coconut Oil: While this probably isn’t in your fridge (maybe in the summer), this saturated fat is good for your brain health, is great for cooking at high heat, and can be subbed in as lotion for dry skin. You may as well smell a little like the beach, ‘cuz your rocking bod’s going to be loving what you’re feeding it.
It really can be this simple. If you start combining, mixing and cooking the “smart” way, you’ll never run out of great ideas, healthy meals and feed your body the way our coaches do!
